Like so many of us in this crazy age, I live a fairly disciplined life. Running is one of the most joyful parts of that discipline. It is both duty and freedom, the perfect paradox. In this blog, I write about my third time training for a half- marathon while in my 40s, balancing the intensity of family and work with the intensity of training. Along the way, I dive into memories of what I learned from running over the years, what crystallized for me during those earlier efforts, and what I’m learning now. Always, running connects me to life. The half-marathon goal is only a place on my calendar that’s part of the structure of it all. It’s the practice of running that always teaches me something new about living.
